After completing the four assemblies, do the legs of your deck box, attach it to your assemblies. Be sure to check for square while constructing the box. Finally attach the cleats and slats to the bottom of the box base by applying glue then attach them with a nail gun. Measure the diagonal lengths of your box and make sure they have the same length to build a sturdy frame.

Add Cladding and Trim

Adding an attractive cladding and beautiful trim on top of the box is also good to see on deck boxes. Cut your cladding and trim cladding to length but make sure you already measured the box so you will not waste any material to use. Once measured, cut all boards to length and attach them. Start attaching in the middle and work your wat out. Just remember that this is the front part of your box and you want to make sure that there are no visible holes and drills and your boards are measured perfectly for your cladding. If the cladding does not measure to size once you get the the edge, cut them to size. Once done, glue and nail them to the box.

Next is to install some trim on top of your deck box. Cut to width and length and attach with glue and nails. Paste and cut the side ledges using a jig saw. Then all 3 sides get pocket holes once done glue and nail into place. Finally add nosing along the edge to add a lip. 

Attaching Dual Lids

To make the lids of your dock storage box, each lid must have 3 center slats, 2 end slats and another 2 pieces of nosing. Cut all pieces to length and attach together with pocket hole screws. Attach the nosing with glue and nail them. The front nosing needs to be flush with the top, and attach with glue and nails as well. Repeat for the second lid and once finished, attach the lids with brackets. You can then paint it with any finish you want.
