A beautiful garden with many plants and flowers makes the ambiance relaxing- but then do we really have to be in a garden to enjoy and feel that ambiance? Architects and interior decorators have always included planters and vases in their designs. Whether residential or for business establishments, it has always added vigor and glamour to a relatively simple space.

An elegant looking planter can make the place look sophisticated. In designing an outdoor space, it would be better to use bigger planters. They can hold larger plants and provides more space for the roots. Large outdoor planters can be as big as 84’’ in diameter and 52” in height. They come in a variety of color and design that would give way to decoration need.

Establishments have used large outdoor planters mainly because it draws people’s attention and the area being decorated is more spacious. Placing a beautiful Dracaena on each of the door pillars or some flower plants on the stairs would look enticing to a passerby. Other commercial establishments use large outdoor planters for Ficus, sea hogs, or palm trees as outdoor ornaments.

The wide-array of plant choices gives way for many manufacturers to design even more intricate planters. In contemporary container gardening, the use of clay materials in pottery has been the highly distinguished. Though it is known that this type of planter degrade over time. Now, planters are made from different materials such as PVC, fiberglass or resin and many more. They come in a variety of designs, shapes, and sizes. Since terra-cotta planters are well-known in the container gardening industry, many of the designs have been made to look like it and yet have the durability that other materials can provide.

Container gardening has never look good without the jug shaped planter. This has been the most commonly used planter when it comes to outdoor designs. The jug shape provides a more versatile design option for indoor or outdoor use. The best places to have these types of planters are patios, entrances to establishments, or gardens. They are even used as center pieces for flower plants.

No matter the size, shape, or color of the planter – the bottom line is still dependent on the design and designer. Contemporary, innovative, futuristic or even a bizarre design would not be possible without the proper choice of planter and plants. It is always best to take into consideration factors like the weather condition where the planter is placed or the material it is made of. Choose a suited plant for the place and it would be a good start.
